Founding Farmers | Dining in Washington, D.C.

This place is just buzzing with energy, good food and drinks and fun! If you're looking for a tasty spot for lunch, people watching and great service, Founding Farmers is the perfect place to be.

The enormous lunch menu is filled with starters, entrées and specials (don't forget about the sides!) Of course southern cuisine is a must whenever the menu offers it and the list just goes on and on from deviled eggs to sandwiches to pot roast to pastas (and so on so forth). The question is, how does one choose what to eat?! Well don't hit up this place solo. You need at least two people in order to be able to try everything. They offer chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, skillet corn bread and our favourite that day, a starter of blue cheese bacon dates (which you'll see some of these items listed below). Out of the appetizers we had (the dates, ,deviled eggs, and green fried tomatoes), the bacon wrapped dates were the best and the Chili for an entrée was great. The shrimp and grits didn't have enough grits (sadly) and there was a lot of sauce instead. The cornbread was interesting, we were just missing that typical texture of a cornbread that one would expect... it was more like a cake... (maybe you'll like that sort of thing?)

They have a section on their menu called "Farmacy" (non alcoholic drinks) and there is a range of milkshakes to mocktails as well as their "Phosphate" which is basically soda water with a tincture of a flavour for that day. They also offer grapefruit soda - perfect for a spring/summer day!

Overall, Founding Farmers is a great place to gather with friends or for a fun date.

Eat your heart out!
