Nuba Kitsilano | Dining in Vancouver

Cozy and a fun place to have a meal with friends, Nuba provides a cultural and satisfying menu for all. Lebanese cuisine includes everything from seafood to poultry, to vegetables and so much more. If you've not tried it for yourself, Nuba is definitely your stepping stone. Baba Ganooj is one of our favourites: creamy roasted egg plant purée with lemon and tahini. Another great dish is their sautéed minced lamb with onions, pine nuts and spices with hummus and avocado. All the many flavours put together in the one dish are simply divine. Be sure to try their spiced prawns cooked with chile garlic oil, and their stuffed eggplant: spicy tomatoes and red pepper stuffing, topped with feta dressing and toasted walnuts - yum! Bring your friends and family to Nuba to try Mediterranean cuisine, they'll for sure be impressed.

Food (from Top left to right): Baba Ganooj, Garden Falafel of chickpeas, fava beans, veggies and spices with hummus and avocado, Najib's Specal of crispy cauliflower tossed with lemon and sea salt served with tahini,  Lamb Hushwie - sautéed mince lamb with onions, pine nuts and spices served with hummus and avocado, Halloumi Cheese - traditional Middle Eastern cheese, seared and served with fresh tomato, pomegranate nut dressing and fresh mint.

Nightingale | Dining In Vancouver

After having heard mixed reviews about Nightingale, one day we decided to check it out for ourselves. The restaurant, also owned by the same group as Hawksworth Restaurant, offers what they call "fresh and vibrant modern Canadian cuisine" and I think they're on the right track. Vegetables, pastas, pizzas and more are what you can find at this trendy establishment. It's definitely a place to be seen. The bar offers a wide range of cocktails and beverages, and on top of that their menu alone is extensive. There was so much to choose from it was simply overwhelming - so make sure you dine with lots of your friends and family.

The cocktail featured here is their seasonal special we had during the summer, a Sherry Cobbler. It was a mix of a few different types of sherries - it was absolutely delicious!

The food was very tasty and we were very happy with the quality of all the ingredients presented to us. We will definitely be back to try the many dishes we didn't get to taste!

Food & Beverage: Sherry Cobbler - Fino + Amontillado were definitely in the cocktail, can't remember what else... either way it was fantastic, Burrata & anchovy on toast with peperonata and parsley, Crispy fried chicken with preserved lemon yogurt, dill and espelette, Cavatelli with braised wild boar, grilled kale and roasted apple.

Fable | Vancouver Dining

If you're looking for fresh ingredients with a twist, Fable is the place for you. I've found that, "Farm to table," has been a popular theme in Vancouver. Everyone is into fresh, local (and sometimes organic) produce - a great way to promote the amazing products BC has to offer. I found Fable Restaurant to be a great dining experience (minus the extreme heat you'll experience during the summer inside) that has tasty dishes and great service. I'll definitely be back at some point to see what's new.

From top to bottom: Rhubarb and strawberry soda with Fable syrup. Trout tartare. Spaghetti and Meatball with duck jus inside and a parmesan sauce (my favourite!). Schnitzel special.

West | Vancouver Dining

I hadn't been back to West Restaurant in a couple years.

West was packed and has definitely turned into a hip place for drinks. Turns out the bartender had one an award at some point in their career (I was impressed!) The Mint Julep was very tasty.  The other cocktail that you see below the julep is a signature cocktail made by the award winning bar tender. Check out the cocktail list here.

For dinner, I had all appetizers (as that's what seemed to catch my eye as I was going through the extensive list).  We started with an amuse bouche, followed by our courses we ordered:

pea soup, beef tartare, and lastly a seafood risotto of prawns.

I highly suggest making a reservation, as West is one of the popular choices in Vancouver (it's also great if you don't have to cross a bridge into downtown to dine if you plan on having a beverage or two.)

I would definitely go back in a heartbeat (it is a little more pricy) but this is because West is fine dining in Vancouver (rare to find in the city these days...)

A take on canadian, western cuisine with a modern twist. West, thank you for a pleasurable dining experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the knowledge you offered about my dishes or the cocktails I got to try.
