Sake is probably my choice of beverage at the moment. It's delicate, aromatic and can be dry at times. But Hakkaisan Sake is definitely a must have or at least must try at some point in anyone's lives. If you're not big into sake or want to learn more about it and where it comes from, how it's made, why it tastes the way it does... then come to an event like the one here!
Set in Yaletown, That's Life Gourmet and Minami Restaurant held a fun tasting event. The representative of Hakkaisan came to visit Vancouver, showcasing their sakes throughout the lower mainland. At $39 dollars per person, many people bought tickets and turned out to be a buy-out.
There were six different kinds of Hakkaisan that everyone could try. Champagne sake was a highlight - a delicate treat for everyone. Minami Restaurant handed out hors d'oeuvres and everyone had a great time. I highly suggest that anyone who's interested in getting to know sake should get themselves into the scene.
Sake is definitely an up and coming beverage in Vancouver, Toronto and New York City. I love sake because of it's defined and unique taste. Hakkaisan brings floral hints to the nose as well as bold notes and full tasting bodies. Kanpai!
